FAQs about hotels in Dresden

The Jewel Box

Known as the "Jewel Box", Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city center.

Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.

Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Also not to be missed is Brühl Terrace, a promenade nicknamed the "Balcony of Europe", for its excellent view of the River Elbe.

Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cozy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.   Dresden Airport is the international airport located in the district of Klotzsche, featuring a railway station in the terminal building. Take the train and head to your Booking.com hotel, guesthouse or apartment.

    Very beautiful city.

Very beautiful city. The historic center is very impressive considering that it was almost entirely rebuilt after 1945. I highly recommend the Old Masters Gallery in Zwinger. This is an unforgettable experience!

    Everything!

Everything! Easily my favourite city to visit in Germany so far for its sheer beauty. Amazingly I got last minute tickets to the Semperoper (the opera) to watch “The Magic Flute”. The architecture, the food, the people are what make Dresden the special place it is. The Hop on Hop off bus tours are great as they take you to the suburbs in the hills that you would otherwise not get a chance to see. Great views and a good cafe in one suburb to have a coffee.

I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans.

I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans. Two narrow gauge steam trains, only 15 minutes by train away from the main station: Weißeritztalbahn and Lößnitzgrundbahn. The Transport museum (Verkehrshaus) next to the Frauenkirche is also worth a visit. Take the 1.5 hour train east to Zittau and you get to another great and famous narrow gauge steam train line. And you are only scratching the surface here. If you are in the UK, take the Eurostar to London, then continue with the Eurosleeper in a direct train to Dresden. You can even easily make a day trip to Prague!

    Dresden’s history is mind boggling.

Dresden’s history is mind boggling. There are so many areas worth exploring, both within the city and on the outskirts. Rapid transit is easy to negotiate. Dresden was certainly the cultural Center of Germany and, despite being bombed at the end of WW2, the resilience of Dresdeners helped restore a unique city.

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history,...

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc. But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum) There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

We loved this hotel, it was right across the road from the main train station and the beginning of one of the main tram lines. It was so close to the central shopping area in Dresden and an easy walk to the Christmas Markets that we had travelled to see. We were really happy there. The room was quiet and clean, there were plenty of hooks for our mountains of coats and scarves and beanies. The laundry facilities were really easy with an app that told you when your machine was finished which was very handy.

This is so far the best hotel we have stayed in Dresden. Nice to treat yourself for a special event. If you’re lucky or have some extra budget - get the room with the view of Frauenkirche and the square. It is good spot to just seat and do some people-watching. For cold and rainy days there is sauna on the upper floor… as well as fancy Moritz restaurant. Perfect location for Old Town sightseeing or Opera visit. Very comfortable beds and pillows… and pleasant quiet so you can relax.

The hotel is right opposite the main Dresden railway station. There are shops in the station (Lidl) and around the corner (REWE), should you feel peckish. You get a FREE pass to use the local transport system in the city during your stay. Just jump on board the trams! The hotel is very quiet! Even rooms facing the railway station. There is a fridge in the room Very valuable for cold drinks etc. You can easily walk to the city centre, should you prefer to do that.

We just wanted to have a reasonably priced accommodation for a night for our visit in Dresden. The hotel is a bit remotely located compared to the city centre but with public transport, everything can be reached. The hotel was just perfect for our needs, with spacious rooms, and quality service. In addition, the breakfast has a big choice of meals and drinks, which was just perfect. Am a regular here and it's a no-brainer for me when it comes to choosing a stay at Dresden it's always this hotel. Perfect location, quiet, 15 minutes walk from the center. The rooms are super clean, the bed is comfortable. I get the best sleep here. The staff are lovely and very friendly. They always give a discount for parking. This time I came with a puppy and they were so lovely with him. They even prepared dog plates for water and some dog snacks in the room.

Beautiful boutique hotel in old part of Dresden. Loved the colourful decor and interesting artworks. Spacious room, very clean, comfy bed, great breakfast with fresh fruit. Loved the area - lots of great, inexpensive food options and old bars, including the tiny Blue Note Jazz Bar. Good area to walk round and browse vintage shops. Surprisingly quiet after 11pm. One of my favorite hotels in Dresden. The best pillows and a nice breakfast with a lovely view. However, this time the pillow was changed to a classical hotel version - thick pillow that puts your head in an almost vertical position. Additionally, the breakfast on Friday was confusing; it seemed like the fried potatoes from yesterday's breakfast were just reheated and served again. Everyone knows the taste of yesterday's fried potatoes - like shoe soles.

Easy access to all the places we wanted to walk or take the bus to. Secure parking and a nice breakfast included. This is the hotel we normally stay at when visiting Dresden.
